Rudolph the snot nosed reindeer

Rudolph the snot nosed reindeer had a terribly bad cold
His rosy red nose had turned green one hundred and one multifold

Then one morn', sweet Santa said to him,
'Rudolf with your nose green, you'd better stay in'

Leaving a trail of green snotty slime
Rudolf the reindeer shuffled back to his pine

While he was dreaming of strange green bells
Suddenly he was awakened by Santa yelling 'Hell'

Gratefully leaving his green bell choir
What he discovered was Santa's house afire

Quickly he ran into the house
All grey with smoke just like a mouse

All was dark and confusion and terror
What was needed was a courageous torchbearer

And finally his nose, no longer a misfit
Shining and green as an emergency exit

Everyone escaped out into the cold
And this was how green turned to the value of gold

Anyone else searching online for home remedies for bad colds? The kids had flu shots, but we are still fighting off something around here.

I found this gross, but humorous to my weird son, poem and thought I'd share it with you!

250 Advent Calendar Ideas

We have an Advent calendar with empty pockets this year. We used to have a snowman who jumped from day to day. I cannot find him this year. I decided to print out ideas to fold into the empty pockets of the calendar.

Looking around online, I noticed a lot of awesome DIY Advent calendar ideas and suggestions for the days. I really like the photo challenges. My kids have access to phones with cameras so it's something they can participate in. I also like the holiday poems idea. Reading books of Christmases of long ago, when kids were ecstatic to have a new pair of mittens and a peppermint stick.

We aren't sheltered from the world, Nintendo Switch, slime glues, bikes, hoverboards, rip board, my kids want it all.  I don't fault them for that. Kids will be kids.

Advent Calendars were first used by German Lutherans to count down the days until Christmas.
