4th grade student get free admission to 2,000 federal parks

All 4th grade students (and 10-year old homeschooled and free-choice learners) are invited to visit the park free for one year (through August 31, 2016). Starting today, Sept 1, 4th grade students can now go to www.everykidinapark.gov to complete an activity and print a voucher for a free pass to more than 2,000 federal recreation areas, including Fort McHenry and other national parks.
The 4th grader must bring the voucher to the Information Desk in the Visitor Center and there it will be exchanged for a plastic, durable pass. The pass will also admit for free 3 adults traveling with the 4th grader.
In additional to providing every 4th grader in America a free pass for national parks and federal public lands and waters, fourth grade educators and youth group leaders can also go to the website, complete a questionnaire and receive a number of vouchers which can be exchanged for the plastic, durable pass.
Each 4th grader must present a voucher in person to obtain the plastic pass.
The goal of the Every Kid in a Park program is to connect 4th graders with the great outdoors and inspire them to become future environmental stewards, ready to preserve and protect national parks and other public lands for years to come. The program is an important part of the National Park Service’s centennial celebration in 2016, which encourages everyone to Find Your Park.
