Toothpaste squeeze lesson teaches students about anti-bullying
For our health lesson this week we're talking about bullying. Online bullying in video game chat rooms or in YouTube comments seem to be where my kids are exposed to this.
Here is where the toothpaste activity comes in.
Get a paper plate, a tube of AIM toothpaste, and let each kid take a turn squeezing out the toothpaste. Keep passing the tube of toothpaste around until the tube is empty.
Now pass out a toothpick to each child.
Using only the toothpick, try to put the toothpaste back inside the tube.
Did it work?
Is this even possible?
This example shows how easily it is to spew hateful and mean words, but its not as easy to undo what you did when hurting someone's feelings.
Saying I am sorry is like using a toothpick to put toothpaste back in a tube.
