Recycled Page Corner Bookmark
Don’t toss that envelope in the recycling bin! Reuse it to make a unique page corner bookmark. Inspired by the Lorax, this is a great craft project for Earth Day, a fun birthday party favor, or a perfect enclosure with a gift of books.
What you’ll need:
- Manila envelopes rescued from the recycling bin
- Yellow construction paper and/or scraps of white paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
Directions:
Cut off a bottom corner of a manila envelope to make a triangle.
Use yellow construction paper to make a Lorax mustache and eyebrows or cut them from white scraps and color them yellow.
Cut two white ovals for eyes.
Glue everything in place on one side of your triangle and draw a nose above the mustache. Add pupils and eyelashes or eyelids to the eyes as desired.
The Lorax is ready to hold your place in your book!
You can also use white or different colored envelopes to create more bookmarks inspired by other favorite Dr. Seuss characters! Draw a mischievous grin, eyes, and whiskers on the corner of a white envelope and add a red and white stovepipe hat for the Cat in the Hat. Or add eyes, floppy gray ears and a trunk to a gray triangle for Horton.
