DIY PUMPKIN SPICE recipe

Believe it or not, I'm not a huge fan of pumpkin spice flavored everything season. I make my own so it's available to me all year long. It's made from whole ingredients and I know exactly what's in it.

I do enjoy the pictures floating around Facebook (FB) of the pumpkin spice items.
You can also Google search the pumpkin spice flavored items you'll find a bucket of KFC chicken, skittles, toothpaste, pepto bismol, and even Coca Cola flavored with pumpkin spice and an orange color... it's a mad world.

To make the Pumpkin Spice all you need are
ground cinnamon
nutmeg
ground cloves
ground ginger
allspice

You can play around with the ratios until you get a pumpkin taste to your liking.

A pumpkin pie recipe I have says:

8 teaspoons of cinnamon
2 teaspoons ginger
2 teaspoons nutmeg
2 teaspoons cloves
1 teaspoon allspice

Store the spice mix in an old spice jar and shake until thoroughly blended.

This year I did purchase Pumpkin Spice Cheerios. It's difficult to take what any YouTuber says at face value these days, with most products being an ad or their placement in vlogs being #sponsored. The whole disclosure issue is that- an issue. But back to the pumpkin spice.
I've seen a few pumpkin spice everything eating challenge videos and everyone seems to agree the pumpkin cheerios are good. Aldi has the box marked at $1.99, I figured we could try it.
We are generally fans of all the different kinds of cheerios.

Pumpkin spice season starts in August, totally full blown by Labor Day in the USA. Before you know it winter rolls around and everything becomes peppermint. There have been articles trying to find the certain DNA that links all of us non pumpkin spice latte loving people together. But the reality is, we are a society that loves being social and seeming normal. If everyone else is doing it, maybe I should too. But see, Maaaami here, is punk rawk, I do what I want, and if that means I have to stick to my french vanilla coffee creamer for 45 more days until the peppermint makes an appearance, I will!

The DIY Pumpkin Spice is great for saving those calories. How many of you have passed up a yummy warm soul soothing cup of coffee because your brain went to the calorie count? I know, I have several times. Making things yourself you know how much of this and that is in a recipe. You can tweak it to be more pumpkin or spiced tasting. It's all up to you.

Pumpkin is one of those fall and winter holiday staples. Who doesn't love a yummy slice of pumpkin pie, warm or cold during the holidays? If you have whipped cream, it's a home run outta the park, past the parking lot, and into the Inner Harbor!

The smell of nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and allspice are used in lots of baking dishes. Comfort food really is comforting and your nose gets the smell to your brain faster than the scoop of pie in your belly can.
