The families of two friends and a baby killed in a car crash have been comforted by this photo taken at the scene.
Hannah Simmons, 23, her nine-month-old daughter A’lannah, and her 28-year-old friend Lauren Buteau were all killed in the accident on April 25.
Ms Simmons lost control of her Subaru Legacy and hit another vehicle in their hometown of Gainesville, in the US state of Georgia.
Anisa Gannon, a driver caught in the traffic jam caused by the crash, took a photo of the scene to prove to her boss she was running late because of a road incident.
But the photo, strangely, shows a beam of light shining down on the scene, with two lighter patches appearing to fly up above the wreck.
Gannon’s aunt, Tara Noble, told TODAY that it looked like a ‘pathway to heaven’.
Although most people would explain away the light as a windshield glare or lens flare, Noble said that wasn’t the point – and that she ‘doesn’t believe in coincidences’.
‘It brought the families peace, whether it’s a glare or not,’ she said. ‘It’s indescribable, basically, and it does look like them [Simmons and Buteau] leaving.’
Noble tracked down Ms Simmons’ mother, Judy, who said the photo was a gift.
‘That picture was taken for a reason – to give me sanity,’ Judy said. ‘Hannah was also my best friend, and she’s looking down from heaven.’
