Every kid gets a candy cane today. We're going to look at it closely. How many colors do you see on your candy cane? What is the candy cane shaped as? What does it feel like? Close your eyes, does it smell like anything you recognize? Before you open it, trace it on a piece of paper. How long is a candy cane? Measure it with your ruler. You can cut out the traced candy cane and can you easily stretch out the crook and estimate how long it would be without the crook?
Today we're going to find out, how many licks does it take to eat a whole candy cane? We're going to color one candy cane for every lick and then we'll count. If there's not enough candy canes make tally marks to continue keeping track.
