This is just an idea generator post for all who haven't had babies in a while
We are so excited for a dear friend, who just found out she's having a girl! This will be her first child and I'm hoping to calm my excitement by looking at all of the new toys and things for little ones. My youngest is 6 years old. Things have changed so much since 2010. Just a few weeks back we attended a pool party and saw kids wearing little swim vests that were amazing. The littles were jumping off the diving board and towards the end of the afternoon, doing somersaults off the diving board - no fear!
My goal with this post is to put other options out into the universe that other things are needed at baby showers besides clothing.
Waterproof crib mattress cover
These things are great! The crib mattresses my kids used were plastic (waterproof) and when my oldest was an infant she would wake up sweaty and stinky. Discovering these was a blessing. You cover the mattress with this cover and then place a regular crib sheet on top.
Pacifier Clip
These are great even if the baby doesn't use a pacifier.
Thermometer
Thermometers have come along way.
Infant Bathing sling
My son was the first to use one of these. You just prop it up in the kitchen sink or when they become larger and squirm, in the bathtub.
Infant Outdoor swing
When my oldest was a few weeks old, my husband came home from Wal-mart with one of these swings. We had an old clothes line frame in the backyard and he was over the moon excited about using it and having her in the swing outside while he was doing yard work. When we moved to the house we're in now he attached it to a tree out front.
Bath toys
I saw this and just had to share. How cute is this octopus? Too cute! So much learning going on with this one bath toy.
Fashion Accessories
I love a baby with hair bows, bracelets, or earrings. These little hair bands would be perfect to A-advertise your child is a girl and B- if your baby has a lot of hair, it will help during the wild and unruly hair days that are inevitable.
Swim Vest
This is the swim vest I mentioned in my opening. An amazing invention! They are called Puddle Jumpers.
The Infant Life Preserver Vest my kids used was this type
TOYS
The infant toys available on Amazon are overwhelming, to say the least. Here are a few I'm interested in purchasing.
